The Eco-Elves need your help this Christmas!

Welcome to the Eco-Elves Sustainability Workshop!! This year, Father Christmas’s trusty elves have donned their green hats to become the magical Eco-Elves! In the heart of the workshop, the elves are busy recycling, repurposing, and reusing to make sure no waste is created over Christmas!

But they need your help! There is so much waste in the world and time is running out! The Eco-Elves would like you to craft Christmas magic by turning waste items (that would normally go in the bin) into beautiful Christmas decorations that will light up the festive season and be treasured for years to come!

The Eco-Elves have asked for children aged 3-12 to help them by participating in Waste Wise Kids’ Christmas competition!

Get ready to be part of the Eco -Elves’ mission and unwrap the magic of repurposing!!

There are three age categories and there are prizes for reuse creativity that sparkles!

  • Eco-elves-in-training (Ages 3-6)

Prize: Interplay Worm World the truly amazing world of worms

  • Santa’s helpers (Ages 7-9)

Prize: Flower seed variety pack – 30 different varieties of flower seeds to grow

  • Sustainability stars (Ages 10-12)

Prize: 3-in-1 Mini Solar Robot Toy

What do to:

Find waste items around your home that can be cleaned and used again such as packaging, plastic bottles, old fabric and plastic lids. Then turn your rescued items into a dazzling Christmas decoration! Snap a photo of your eco-decoration and be ready to share the story of how you transformed waste into a wonderful decoration you will treasure for years to come! You could make anything you want for example:

🎅 Santa’s sleigh from egg boxes

🌲 A Christmas tree from old magazines

❄️ A happy snowman from old plastic bottles

Please make sure you have an adult present to help you with any cutting!

Send us a picture

Ask a parent or guardian to help take a picture of you with your eco-decoration and here’s what to do next:

  1. Email the photo to hello@wastewisekids.org with the Subject: Eco-elves Competition (images to be sent as JPEGs or PNGs or PDF’s)
  2. Provide a list of the waste/natural items you use
  3. Please provide your full name
  4. Please provide your age
  5. Please provide your address so we can send you a personalised Waste Wise Kids certificate. All entrants will receive one of these.
  6. We will notify all winners by email by 8th January 2024
Competition Terms & Conditions
  1. ACCEPTANCE: By entering this Competition, all participants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. All entry instructions form part of these Terms and Conditions. Waste Wise Kids reserve the right to verify any entries and winners and may refuse to award prizes where we have reasonable grounds to believe that there has been a breach of these Terms and Conditions.
  2. TIMING: The Competition will run from Friday 8th December 2023 to Tuesday 2nd January 2024. We reserve the right to alter the competition dates.
  3. ELIGIBILITY: All entrants must be aged between 4 and 12 years. Children of Waste Wise Kids and Encore Environment employees will not be eligible to enter.
  4. ENTRY: A limit of ONE Competition entry is permissible per child. All completed entries should be sent through to Waste Wise Kids via email to hello@wastewisekids.org. PRIZES: The competition will have three winners. One from each age group: 3-6 years, 7-9 years, and 10-12 years.
  5. Waste Wise Kids reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Prizes are non-transferable.
  6. WINNER SELECTION: The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges at Waste Wise Kids and Encore Environment. The winners will be announced Week commencing Monday 8th January 2024.
  7. RESULTS: The results of the Competition are final. The only correspondence that will be entered into is to notify the winners they have won and to ask for confirmation of an address to send the prize to. We will email Waste Wise Kids certificates to all entrants.
  8. LOST ENTRIES: Waste Wise Kids will not take responsibility for any lost entries, and entries received after Tuesday 2nd January 2024 will not be permitted to enter the Competition.
  9. WINNER NOTIFICATION: We will aim to contact winners by email by Monday 8th January 2024
  10. UNCLAIMED PRIZES: If a prize is, for whatever reason, unclaimed after reasonable efforts have been made by Waste Wise Kids to contact the winner, we will choose a runner up to receive the prize instead.
  11. PUBLICITY: We may require the winners to participate in publicity on behalf of Waste Wise Kids. By entering this Competition, entrants agree that we may use their name and/or image for these purposes and that they will not be paid. It is a condition of entry that the winners’ name will be used for promotional purposes. This will only be in summary e.g. Emily from Northampton.
